Languages Open Worlds

Multilingual Daycare Cologne – that means: With us, children playfully grow up with multiple languages. German, English, and family languages are part of everyday life – thus, language becomes the key to curiosity, openness, and self-confidence.

Family-Oriented & Quality-Focused

An African proverb says: “It takes a village to raise a child.” The rainbowtrekkers create such a “village”: a place where children grow up in closeness, respect, and multilingualism and families find support. Regular quality checks and clear standards ensure that your child receives the best possible support.

We serve balanced, child-friendly meals according to the recommendations of the Research Institute for Child Nutrition (FKE) at the University of Bonn. Fresh ingredients, plenty of vegetables, and a vegetarian option make healthy eating a natural part of everyday life.

Family Center & Community

Rainbowtrekkers is more than a daycare: In our family centers, connections, exchange, and support emerge. Thus, children grow not only in daycare but also within a vibrant network of families and friendships.

What does our name "Rainbowtrekkers" actually mean?

The name combines two ideas that shape our work: “Rainbow” stands for diversity – for children, families, and staff from many cultures, languages, and walks of life. “Trekkers” comes from the English word ‘trekking’ and symbolizes movement and development: We understand education as a shared journey on which children discover the world and grow step by step.

Here the Journey Begins

Easily accessible and with plenty of space for playing and discovering: Each of our multilingual daycares in Cologne and the region has its own character – yet everywhere you will find what defines rainbowtrekkers: security, diversity, and loving, multilingual support from the very beginning.

Cologne-Junkersdorf

Our multilingual daycare Cologne Junkersdorf is located in the green Stadtwaldviertel district. Here, children discover a natural outdoor area with raised beds, a climbing frame, and plenty of space to play. The focus areas are movement, music, and sustainability – within a semi-open concept that promotes encounters.

Cologne-Lindenthal

The multilingual daycare in Lindenthal has been our main house since 2007, offering a family atmosphere and around 30 spots. The large outdoor area provides children with nature experiences, space for movement, and their own vegetable patches. Here, we value stable group structures, space for creativity, and interaction.

Cologne-Widdersdorf

Our multilingual daycare Cologne Widdersdorf-Süd offers around 80 spots in the heart of the new residential area. 1,000 sqm indoors and the spacious outdoor area provide children with a colorful mix of playing, learning, and projects. Our core group concept offers security and fosters curiosity, creativity, and community.

Cologne-Weidenpesch

Starting August 2027, we will open a new rainbowtrekkers location for approximately 60 children. Its location in the Nippes district combines short daily commutes with plenty of greenery: From Weidenpescher Park to the horse racing track, it's not far – perfect for walks, nature discoveries, and excursions in the daycare routine.

Bergheim-Oberaußem

During 2027, our new daycare in Bergheim-Oberaußem will open – with space for 100 children in 6 groups. The two-story building is being constructed according to a sustainable concept with plenty of light and natural wood as a building material – for warm rooms that empower children.

We are grateful for the trust that families place in us every day. Your feedback means a lot to us – that’s why we listen carefully and conduct regular parent surveys. The feedback gives us strength, confirms our path, and shows us where we can improve.

We accompany children on their journey to curiously discover the world – with heart, attitude, and a clear understanding of values.

Our multilingual daycares stand for an educational approach that sees each child in their uniqueness. We foster self-confidence, openness, and social competence – and create spaces where children feel secure and, at the same time, encouraged to try new things.

Values such as respect, empathy, and cohesion shape our daily life. We understand diversity not as a concept, but as a lived reality. Through continuous quality assurance, regular parent and staff surveys, and team exchange, we ensure that our educational work constantly grows – just like the children we accompany.

From what age can my child start at rainbowtrekkers?

We care for children from one year old until they start school. The settling-in process is individual and in close consultation with parents.

Multilingual Daycare Cologne – for us, that means: languages are a natural part of everyday life. Children experience German and English equally – many family languages are naturally integrated. Through this multilingual environment, they playfully learn to express themselves, listen, and discover the world with open ears.

The daily routine in our daycares follows a clear rhythm that provides children with security and orientation – and at the same time, allows plenty of space for play, movement, and discovery. After a shared drop-off and breakfast time, we start the day with morning circles. Children play, paint, build, make music, or explore outdoors – each child finds their own approach.

At lunchtime, we eat together, followed by rest or nap times, before there’s more time in the afternoon for free play, projects, or garden adventures.

You can find out exactly how the day unfolds at our locations on the respective detailed pages of the daycare locations.

Our work is regularly reviewed internally and externally. Through further training, parent surveys, and team reflection, we continuously develop our quality. We place great importance on openness and accountability: As a member of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative, we make our structures, goals, and finances public – because true quality requires trust and transparency.
