In the course of 2027, our new Kita will open in Bergheim-Oberaußem – with space for 100 children in 6 groups. The two-story building is being constructed according to a sustainable concept with plenty of light and using natural wood – for warm rooms that strengthen children.
The location of the Kita in Bergheim-Oberaußem offers ideal conditions for nature and environmental education projects right on its doorstep. Community projects and festivals with parents, local clubs, and other organizations foster a strong sense of community. A particular focus is on dialogue between children and senior citizens – including as part of the “Generationenbrücke Deutschland” (Generations Bridge Germany).

Costs & Contributions
At rainbowtrekkers, we attach great importance to transparency – also when it comes to costs. The care of your child is largely publicly funded, and part of the contributions depends on your income. With your membership in the support association, you also contribute to ensuring that we can secure our high quality standards, fair working conditions, and special offers for all children.
Parental contributions of the city of Bergheim
The amount of parental contributions is determined by the youth welfare office of your place of residence. It depends on the income and the number of children in your family. For families residing in Bergheim, the
Support association "Early Education in the Kita e.V."
Our Kitas are largely publicly funded – nevertheless, state funds alone are often not sufficient to secure our quality level in the long term. That is why we ask parents to become members of the support association “Early Education in the Kita e.V.”

You support fair working conditions, good equipment, and special projects. Requested monthly support contribution: €29.
Meal allowance
For breakfast, lunch, and snacks, we charge a monthly meal allowance of €85. Families with low incomes can apply for a reduction to €1 per lunch via the education and participation package.
Why your support is so important
Rainbowtrekkers is a non-profit, independent organization – no corporation, no church. We finance our work exclusively through public grants and your contributions. Unlike large welfare associations, we have no additional sources of income such as church tax or foundation funds.
With your support, you help us to continue doing what is close to our hearts: to offer children a loving, safe, and inspiring place to grow.

How can my child become a rainbowtrekker in Bergheim?
If you would like to submit a placement request, please use the Kita-Navigator of the city of Bergheim.
Are there currently any places available?
Our Kita in Oberaußem is expected to open in the course of the 2027 calendar year. An exact date has not yet been set.
Can I visit the Kita beforehand?
As soon as the building has been approved by the building authorities, we will offer viewing appointments in the facility. We cannot yet say exactly when that will be.
When will I get to know the Kita personally?
Parents who are looking for a place for their child in our Kita in Bergheim-Oberaußem are welcome to book an appointment here for an introductory meeting. As long as the facility in Oberaußem has not yet opened, the introductory meetings will take place in our facility in Cologne-Junkersdorf.
What costs are involved for a childcare place?
