Bilingual Daycare Center in Cologne – Mother with her child on the way to kindergarten

Are you looking for a multilingual daycare center in Cologne that you can rely on? At rainbowtrekkers, quality is tested, transparent, and lived every day.

All our facilities are TopKita-certified – with parent and child surveys, self-assessments, and external audits. This way, quality is not just promised, but made visible.

All of our facilities also operate according to high standards, are regularly audited externally, and are constantly developed further through internal evaluations and training courses.

The quality management system of the provider is based on ISO 9001.

Everything for Your Child

For us, quality means: Every child is seen, supported, and taken seriously. Our specialists support children individually and regularly reflect on their pedagogical work.

Quality Assurance

We evaluate our pedagogical processes annually, conduct parent and employee surveys, and publish results transparently.

We also regularly ask children, in an age-appropriate manner, how they like the daycare center and how comfortable they feel. This is how quality is created: by including different perspectives.

Further Education & Language Support for Specialists

Our educators regularly undergo further training – professionally, linguistically, and personally. German-speaking employees acquire English skills up to B2 level with us, and English-speaking employees improve their German.

Multilingual in Cologne: Languages Open Up Worlds

Our children grow up playfully multilingual – German, English, and family languages for children and specialists. Translanguaging means: children use all their languages flexibly in everyday life – depending on the situation and the conversation partner. Language is not “taught”, but lived in play, while eating, and outdoors.

This is how our multilingual daycare center in Cologne works: Rainbowtrekkers specialists speak German, English, and other languages in everyday life – while playing, eating, and on the playground. Children experience all languages naturally – every day.

Children who grow up multilingual demonstrably develop a higher language awareness, better social skills, and more openness to other cultures. Language becomes the key to understanding the world – and moving safely within it.

When children are allowed to gain speaking experience in their family language, it also strengthens their skills in acquiring German.

We work with Professor Dr. Julie A. Panagiotopoulou (University of Cologne) and Professor Heidi Keller (Universities of Osnabrück/Jerusalem). Our language concept and our family concept are exemplary for multilingual and family-oriented daycares in the Cologne area.

Eating with all senses.

Healthy nutrition is a natural part of our everyday life. Our daycare centers are supplied daily with fresh, balanced meals – vegetarian, child-friendly, and according to the recommendations of the Research Institute for Child Nutrition (FKE).

Daily changing, fresh meals with lots of vegetables, fruit, and whole grain products. Pork is generally avoided. Lunch is freshly delivered by local caterers.

We want to convey to children that healthy eating can be sustainable and, above all, delicious. Plant-based nutrition conserves resources and promotes awareness of the environment and animal welfare – in line with our values.

In our children’s restaurants, everyone eats together. Children help set the table, try new things, and experience meals as a social and cultural experience.

Our daycare center in Oberaußem is run based on the nutrition concept of the Bergheim Alliance for Children’s Health and is also to be certified accordingly.

What would a world be without diversity?

Diversity makes us strong – and vibrant. In our rainbowtrekkers daycare centers, children, families, and specialists from many countries, cultures, and walks of life meet. This colorful mix shapes our everyday life and creates an environment full of openness, curiosity, and mutual respect. For us, diversity is not a concept on paper, but lived reality: people from over a dozen nations work and learn together with us, bring their languages, experiences, and perspectives – and make our daycare centers a place where the world is at home.

Children experience with us that differences are natural and valuable. They learn that there are many ways to understand the world and develop empathy, tolerance, and social strength. In this way, they grow into self-confident, cosmopolitan personalities who not only accept diversity but also see it as an enrichment.

Tolerance for us does not mean arbitrariness. We live values such as respect, equality, and openness – and expect this attitude to be shared by everyone. Diversity ends where it endangers cohesion. Only when we accept each other in our differences does what makes our daycare centers what they are arise: a genuine, vibrant togetherness that makes children strong for the world.

Every child is welcome.

Whether with or without special support needs – every child naturally belongs. Our facilities are designed to be low-barrier, and our specialists create individual development spaces.

We work inclusively – that means: we see not the difference, but the potential of every child. Barriers are removed, individual strengths are promoted.

Our teams work with external specialist advisors, therapists, and the youth welfare office. This ensures that children with special needs receive targeted support.

Inclusion thrives on community. Children learn to be considerate, to help – and to learn from each other.

A good start, trust in everyday life, and a strong network – all this is part of the lived educational partnership in the multilingual daycare center for us. At rainbowtrekkers, we support families from the very beginning: with a gentle settling-in period, open communication, and diverse offers around our family centers. This creates a place where children, parents, and specialists grow together.

Settling-In – Starting with Trust

Starting daycare is a big step – for children and parents. Our settling-in process is individual, sensitive, and designed to be communal from the start. Parents are actively involved until their child feels safe and enjoys the new environment.

Educational Partnership – Open in Exchange

Parents and educators are partners at eye level with us. Through personal conversations, parents’ evenings, our daycare app, and joint celebrations, we stay in close contact. We want not only the children to feel comfortable – but the whole family.

Family Center & Community – More Than a Daycare Center

Our family centers are places of encounter. Here, parents find support, exchange, and new contacts. Whether parent café, workshop, or consultation – we promote community and cohesion so that families in Cologne can grow and strengthen each other.

We are grateful for the trust that families place in us every day. Your feedback means a lot to us – that’s why we listen carefully and conduct regular parent surveys. The feedback gives us strength, confirms our path, and shows us where we can improve.
